Three Places in The South of England You Must Visit

When it comes to the best areas to visit in England, London tends to steal the spotlight. Data from Statista shows that London was the most popular UK destination in 2021, receiving 47% of all international visits to England.

Yet the truth is that England has plenty more amazing regions to offer. So, if you’re planning a trip to the South of England, what are the best places to go?

In this article, we’ll share three places in the south of England you must visit.

Bath

This historic city in northeast Somerset is named after the beautiful baths that the Romans left there. But that isn’t all it has to offer. It’s full to the brim of striking architecture and fascinating history.

It’s also home to more than 40 museums, with themes as varied as fashion, Jane Austen, and astronomy. If you like unwinding in nature, make sure you go to Royal Victoria Park – spanning 57 acres of green fields and gardens, it’s a beautiful space that’s suitable for all ages.

Plymouth

Located at the heart of the southwest, Plymouth is a city with lots to offer you. Its main feature is its position next to the sea, from which it draws a storied maritime history.

Plymouth is home to breathtaking waterfront views and a vibrant city centre. It’s these aspects that bring visitors back time and time again, not to mention its many attractions whilst travelling into the city. These include no less than seven beaches, including Bantham, Bovisand, and Wembury. There’s also the fascinating National Marine Aquarium – Britain’s largest.

Bournemouth

This lively coastal resort town is situated in Dorset on the south coast. Known for its beautiful beaches and Victorian pier, it’s a beloved destination for countless visitors every year.

Do you like art? Then you’ll love the Russel-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum. It has a wide selection of artwork to admire, but the building itself is a thing of beauty, being a grade II listed building originally known as East Cliff Hall. Plus, thanks to its location on top of the East Cliff, it gives stunning panoramic views of the surrounding sea.

Next time you’re looking for a great location for a trip in the South of England, don’t feel restricted to London. This beautiful and culture-rich region of the UK has plenty more interesting areas to offer. Which of the locations above would you like to visit the most?
