Whether you’ve been at your job a few months or a few years, it’s essential that you actually enjoy your time there. We spend a huge portion of our lives in the workplace, so ensuring that it isn’t slowly wearing you down is key to your happiness. Below, we’ll take a look at what to do when you’re not enjoying your time at work:
Figure out the cause of the problem
Figuring out the cause of the problem should be your first port of call. The thing that is making you unhappy could well be temporary, and that is often something you can fix. You don’t want to leave your job if this is something easily fixed. Write a list of the things you’re unhappy about and see what you can come up with.
Speak to your boss
You may not be able to immediately fix your issues, but your boss may be able to. Hopefully, your boss will have an open-door policy designed to make your life easier. See if you can set up a meeting to discuss your problems with them.
Become more assertive
If you feel like you’re pushed around at work and people tell you to do things you really don’t want to do, one of the best things you can do is become more assertive. This is a skill you can learn, so even if you weren’t born this way you can get better at it. The infographic below might help!
