As a newbie to the London Fashion Week scene yet an avid follower of the live streams, I wasn’t sure what to except at my first show at Fashion Scout. This season I was only able to take time to get to London for one day over the fashion week schedule but this small taster has set the wheels in motion for full coverage next season. Arriving in London it was super dreary, rain and wind are not my friend and the thought of queuing in it filled me with dread. Thankfully I didn’t have to wait long to be shown into the Freemason’s building entrance hall and shown to the venue of my first show.
Judy Wu AW16 ‘Avi-a-Trix’ Collection
The Judy Wu show was my very first show at Fashion Scout and it didn’t disappoint. The collection was inspired with a strong vision of feminine strength, showcasing influences from the female pioneers of aviation Amy Johnson and Amelia Earhart. The essence of these important role models including drive, passion and strength was displayed in a beautiful selection of fluid parachute dresses, tailored panelling and webbing detail. This collection also showcased an unapologetic eroticism with materials such as patent, leather and rubber incorporated into the design.
I loved the colour palette of Judy Wu’s collection as it had a great autumnal vibe with khaki green and burnt orange paired with an strong industrial scheme of black, navy and grey. Another element for me that always paves a memorable exhibit has to be the music, the strong arrangement certainly made an impact on the show, providing the perfect compliment to the collection.
I look a few snaps of the show but sitting on the second row I wasn’t able to get a range of particularly good shots, also annoyingly my camera decided to have some issues with settings too. I’ve included some of the better ones and some directly from the Judy Wu collection. Take a peek at this fabulous AW16 ‘Avi-a-Trix’ collection by Judy Wu.
