6 Reasons Why You Should Move to Manchester

When it comes to cities in the north of the UK, you would have to go some to find one better than Manchester. If you are thinking of relocating or planning a future bucket list of places to live, it should definitely be on your list, as it is absolutely stunning.

It’s home to plenty of outstanding districts, including Sale, which is not only one of the safest places to live in Manchester, but it’s on the top five all-time best places to live in England. Here are some more reasons why you should move to Manchester.

A cost-effective alternative to London

Being the capital of the UK, London is a fantastic place to live, but it’s also incredibly expensive. Manchester has everything you would expect, from stunning city skylines and skyscrapers to a myriad of shopping options and cool urban drinking venues. And the best news is that it won’t cost you as much to live there. Purchasing a flat right in the city centre will cost you approximately half of what you would pay for a similar one in London.

The friendly locals

Those who hail from Manchester are incredibly friendly and chatty. Whether you are standing in the queue at the bus stop or being served in a shop or restaurant, you will find friendly people around every corner. It’s very hard to be lonely in a city that welcomes everyone, and you will soon find yourself part of the furniture and taking your turn in welcoming the next generation of newcomers.

Diversity and opportunity

It’s difficult to pinpoint something this city does not offer. There’s a large sports scene with two massive football clubs, calling Manchester home, there is also rugby and skiing, or if you prefer, there are loads of live music, venues and clubs. From religion and culture to careers and hobbies, there really is something for everyone in Manchester.

Blue or red?

We mentioned the two powerhouse teams of domestic football, so let’s look a little closer. Manchester United and Manchester City both have their home ground within the boundaries of Manchester. You can either be red or blue but probably not both. The rivalry, though, is, for the most part, friendly, and Derby Day is an experience to behold.

Food glorious food

Remember the diverse culture we referred to earlier? This applies to your culinary delights as well. There is a huge range of food on offer, and many things are available 24 hours a day around the clock, perfect if you get peckish at 3 am. From Indian to Chinese, English to vegan, there is something for every palette, so be sure to check it out.

Manc culture

Affectionately referred to as manc culture, this amazing city has its own history and has given rise to a number of massive names, including Happy Mondays and Oasis. The architecture is also worth investigating if you enjoy old buildings, with art deco from the Roaring 20s to Gothic-inspired buildings and everything in between.
