How to Plan the Perfect NYE Party

Parties. Fireworks. Resolutions. It can only mean one thing: New Year’s Eve is fast approaching. Want to host a soirée of your own, but aren’t sure where to start?

If so, look no further than our top tips…

Choose a tone for the night

Want to make your NYE party extra special? Then why not give it a theme? If you’re stuck for ideas, think about whether you and your guests take part in the same hobby? Or are you fans of the same kind of music or TV show? Alternatively, you could choose a unique theme – how about sci-fi, period drama or a colour party? The choice is yours!

Throw a BYOB party

It’s a nice thought, but buying all the alcohol for your party can make a big dent in your bank balance. There is a solution, though – and worry not, you won’t have to abstain from drinking (unless you want to, of course). Just ask your guests to bring a bottle or two. If you feel so inclined, you can make a big bowl of punch as a welcome drink or serve them a glass of Prosecco on arrival – most supermarkets offer you a discount if you buy six bottles or more.

Add your own details

Think of the best party you’ve ever been to. It most likely had a personal touch, right? You know, something that really made it stand out! If you want your NYE party to leave a lasting impression, you just need to give it that extra edge. With this in mind, how about making your own décor? Or you could throw an eco-friendly bash? This brings us nicely onto our next point…

Use disposable tableware

Food is an important part of any gathering, but serve it on your everyday crockery, and you could end up with heaps of washing up to do. Plastic tableware is equally troublesome. As you’ll likely know already, the material can take centuries to decompose and when it finally does, it tends to release harmful toxins. Trade your plastic for biodegradable plates and cutlery, however, and you’ll be able to start the new year with an eco-friendly bang.

Don’t overspend

NYE is perhaps the most exciting night of the year and it can be tempting to splash money on flamboyant things. But if you do, you could wake up in January with limited funds. It’s worth doing some budgeting before the party season starts to work out how much you have to spend once you’ve covered your essential outgoings – bills, food, etc. But sometimes we all need a little help and you might need to explore other funding options to get you through this expensive season. Managing your money carefully is key to enjoying a happy new year.

So long as you know how throwing an exceptional NYE party is easy! Just follow our tips, and you can welcome in January in true style.
