Fashion Feature: Quillattire

As London is gearing up for Fashion Week, we speak to Priya Jangda, designer and owner of Quillattire as she prepares to showcase as part of The Prince’s Trust Fashion Collective hosted by Fashions Finest SS18.

Quillattire is an aspirational, slick and contemporary streetwear for men and women. ‘Quillattire’ represents the youth, individual style, a voice, expression by some that do not have the confidence to express themselves. The motto of the label ‘I am who I am. Your approval is not needed”. A loud and retro streetwear brand for women, that allows women to be cool, relaxed and not refine themselves to dress in the way society wants them to.

Priya, has your personal life influenced your career?

I never wanted to do something normal, I wanted to push the boundaries. I did not want the people who put me down to win, I wanted to win by working hard and following my dreams and never stopping till I got there.

What was your greatest success in the past few years?

Having the opportunity to design for 4 great brands, which has allowed me to constantly learn and evolve. Quitting my full-time job and signing up to The Princes Trust, who have supported me through this transition and motivated me to push through with my fashion label.

Do you have a muse you wish you could see wearing your designs?

I enjoy seeing all my customers wear my product but my ultimate muses would be Pharrell Williams, Rihanna or A$ap Rocky.

Do you have a story you are particularly fond of, from the early years of your career?

I will always remember the young tom boy I used to be who lacked confidence and was bullied, I would never have thought I would have designed for brands, styled grime artists and now have my own brand. It goes to show how much you can achieve by listening to you and believing in your self despite how hard it can be over all the negative voices.

What are your plans for the future?

I plan to continue working hard and pushing the boundaries. The brand is still relatively new and I am still learning but I am excited about the future, I know good things are coming!
