4 Ways To Recycle and Repurpose Clothing

With more and more people moving away from fast fashion, the idea of being able to recycle and repurpose our old clothes and outfits is becoming more popular. Whilst some people can do this easily, there are others who might not know what to do, or where to start.

So, to help encourage those who would otherwise avoid recycling or repurposing to give it a go, we have put together a guide on the best ways to do both to your clothes.

Donate them

One of the most obvious things that you can do to repurpose or recycle your clothes is to donate them. There are a variety of charitable organisations who are going to be able to utilise your clothes, this could be a charity shop, or perhaps a local charity who can hand out your old outfits to someone in need. No matter which you choose, you are going to feel pretty great about yourself knowing that you have not only decluttered your house but that you are doing good too!

Swap clothes with friends or family

If you would rather know exactly where your clothes are going and maybe try to refresh your own wardrobe, then swapping might be a better option for you. There are plenty of clothes swaps that happen around the UK, but if you want to keep it closer to home, then you could organise a swap between you and your family/friends.

Give it a make over

For those people who are creative, a great option to think about is transforming something that is a little old and past its best and making it something that is truly unique and interesting. You don’t have to be a pro crafter to transform old clothes into something new, but you do need to think about what you can do to make it look better and even bring it a whole new sense of style.

Or change it completely

If you think that something is completely past saving, then you may be tempted to throw it away. However, just because it is not something that you can wear anymore, that doesn’t mean that you have to give up on it. There are plenty of other things that you can do with old clothes and many of them will have an online guide or video to help you to make them if you get stuck.

You may be really surprised by all the amazing things that you can do with some old clothes and how useful those things can be.

As you can see, there are plenty of things to think about when it comes to recycling and repurposing old clothes. You just need to think about whether you want to donate them, swap them with friends or perhaps get crafty and transform those beaten up old clothes into something that is a whole lot more interesting and useful.
