Skincare For The Soul From Maya Rey

Words by Natasha Henson

We’re always on a mission to share unique products made right here in the UK. So when I was introduced to Maya Rey, I couldn’t wait to try out some of their creations.

To give you a little background, Maya Rey was founded by husband (James) & wife (Caroline) team from Chelmsford, Essex. Their goal is to create products that encourage people to take baths and use bath times as a time for self-care.

Each of the products in the Maya Rey collection has been designed with a specific purpose, for example, The Purifier – a soap for eczema and acne, to The Gentleman – a bath bomb designed just for men to help relax and relieve tired muscles.

Alongside their passion for developing unique skincare solutions, Maya Rey also strives to offer customers eco-friendly products, with most of their collection containing no-plastic packaging.

So, if you’re eager to find out more, check out my thoughts on some of the Maya Rey collection:

Lime, Basil and Mandarin Hand Wash

Ok, so no exaggeration here (of course, that’s my personal opinion) but this hand wash is possibly one of the best I’ve ever used. It’s not only light and refreshing, but the natural fragrance is also fabulous. The infusion of these ingredients works so well together and it isn’t the only hand wash in their collection either (I can’t wait to try the others!).

The Antidote

I remember the days when bars of soap suddenly went out of fashion and were considered bad for your skin. Oh, how times have changed! In fact, my great-grandmother swore by only using real soap for bathing and, to be honest, her skin never looked so good, even into her mature years. As sustainability and natural products are now starting to take centre stage again, so to is skincare in bar form.

The Antidote by Maya Rey is a fabulous natural product that not only cleanses the skin but also features properties to help calm the effects of arthritis and rheumatism. It also boasts anti-fungal properties to help rejuvenate skin and leave it clear and glowing. Check out its colour too!

Himalayan Bath Salts

I don’t often take a bath (always making an excuse that I don’t have time!). However, I did make time to test out the Tea Tree and Lime salts, as whenever I do want a soak in the tub, I’m eager to feel truly relaxed. Once again, these salts didn’t disappoint and although I’m partial to a lot of bubbles, the fragrance and cleansing properties totally make up for that.

These bath salts are perfect if you’re looking to have a total detox as they combine tea tree oil, lime and evening primrose oil to refresh your skin. What’s more, is they are made from natural, vegan and mineral-rich Himalayan salt infused with 100% essential oils.

Overall these products smell amazing and offer a skincare solution that promotes self-care and wellbeing into your daily routine. The minimalist yet stylish packaging will also look fabulous in your bathroom, plus you can recycle it too.
