Bath in Fashion | #TeamMacdonald Style Challenge

After the fantastic first element of the Bath in Fashion bloggers day event which took us through the ages in a beautiful showcase of fashion, we met for lunch in the Assembly Rooms cafe and our introduction to the next part of the day began.  You can take a look at my first post on the Bath in Fashion bloggers day at the Fashion Museum right here.

#TeamMacdonald SS16 Style Challenge

As part of Bath in Fashion, there are tons of top fashion peeps gracing this spectacular event and three such fashion bods are none other than Julien MacDonald, Zandra Rhodes and Erdem.  In short this was the basis for our next style challenge.

Split into three teams we had the exciting task of hunting out the latest spring/summer 2016 trends with a theme in mind.  As part of #TeamMacdonald we had to hunt for two fantastic SS16 looks – Brights and Stripes.  Now this could be interpreted in any fashion you like (pardon the pun). Now where were we going to find such trends?! Each team was allocated a shopping area, ours was the SouthGate Bath shopping centre, a huge retail area featuring some of the best stores for on trend pieces.

So along with my team and the lovely Sarah and Abi of Bath in Fashion, we set off into the hub of Bath’s shopping area.

Brights and Stripes SS16

Now if you’ve been following the #bifloves hashtag you’ll see all of the team’s goodies including our fashion finds in a range of stores.  We had plenty of shops to hunt out the latest looks and everyone was tweeting along the way, although my phone decided to completely drain of battery!  Luckily I had my camera and got some great snaps of the team and our fashion finds.

Take a look at some of the Bright and Stripes trending in stores now.

Bra fitting at Boux Avenue

One of my favourite parts of our shopping experience had to be our visit to Boux Avenue.  I’ve seen this lingerie brand online before but never visited any of their stores and wow I can certainly recommend it.  The store was brilliantly set out with sections dedicated to simple styles, sexier choices and some amazing swimwear.

Now I’ll get onto the service, the ladies at Boux Avenue were amazing!! Super polite, fantastically helpful and a place where I can genuinely say I think they loved their jobs.  We were offered a complimentary bra fitting and were whisked into beautiful boudoir style changing rooms.  I know it’s a shocker but I’ve never had a bra fitting before and I’m not sure why I’d put it off for so long.  Not only did the lovely Sophie give me some great tips on choosing the right bra, the style she recommended fit so comfortably, I just had to have it!

Personal shopping at Debenhams

The last part of our style challenge took place in Debenhams with our lovely personal shopper Elodie.  Greeted with Prosecco and lots of great picks from Elodie’s keen stylist eye, we put together some SS16 outfits and made use of the fantastic mirror in the Personal Shopping Suite (it was great for selfie style shots).

For the beauty queens amongst you, we were also treated to a tutorial on the Benefit Brow Bar and the great range of products in the Urban Decay range, which was great fun.

Cocktail time

After a busy day we regrouped to catch up on the amazing events and style challenges, we also sneaked in a cheeky cocktail too!  Each team did a great job on their experiences and there were tons of amazing SS16 trends spotted in the stores around Bath city centre.  Take a look at the #bifloves for our fashion finds.

The Bath in Fashion team congratulated everyone with a goodie bag bursting with lovely samples and I’ll be reviewing these in my next post.  I’ll also be featuring the amazing lingerie set from Boux Avenue too.

I’d just like to say a huge huge thank you to the Bath in Fashion team for making this event definitely one to remember and Boux Avenue for the best retail experience I’ve ever had.
