Wilde Aparthotels Arrives in Cambridge, Blending Boutique Style with the City’s Rich Heritage

A new chapter in stylish city stays has just begun in one of Britain’s most storied destinations. Wilde Aparthotels has officially opened its doors in the heart of Cambridge, bringing its signature blend of design, comfort, and cultural charm to a city steeped in history. This marks the brand’s eighth European opening, with new locations on the horizon in Lisbon, Vienna, Porto, and Amsterdam.

A prime location in city

Perfectly positioned among Cambridge’s world-renowned university colleges, Wilde, Cambridge City Centre places visitors steps away from Jesus Green and the idyllic River Cam. Whether exploring cobbled lanes by foot or cycling to hidden courtyards, or gliding along the river in a traditional punt, guests are invited to experience the city’s timeless beauty with ease.

Interiors that echo wit and elegance

Wilde takes inspiration from the irreverent wit and enduring sophistication of Oscar Wilde himself, a theme that resonates throughout the 227 studio and one-bedroom apartments. Designed to reflect the literary charm and academic gravitas of Cambridge, interiors feature a rich mix of textures—think brass, warm woods, and tactile fabrics—paired with soft lighting and a palette of serene neutrals, creating a space that is both stylish and soothing.

Thoughtful design meets relaxed social spaces

The hotel’s vibrant social spaces—including a café bar, outdoor terrace, fitness room, and in-house shop—were crafted by London design studio Thurstan, under the direction of James Thurstan Waterworth. Best known for his work with Soho House Istanbul, Waterworth brings his refined, understated style to Wilde’s public areas, where mid-century influences meet contemporary comfort.

“We created an environment that is not only visually engaging but also truly reflective of Cambridge’s unique character—offering guests a memorable and authentic experience from the moment they arrive” says Grainne Keeley, Associate Director at Thurstan. The result is a series of inviting spaces that encourage both relaxation and connection.

Celebrating local creativity through art

Art is a central element at Wilde, Cambridge City Centre. The property boasts a curated collection that celebrates the city’s creative soul, with works by local artists adorning the walls. Highlights include surrealist portraits by Adi Novac, 1960s cityscapes by Margaret Souttar, and evocative photography from Cambridge native Sid White-Jones.

Introducing Oscar’s: A new concept in social spaces

Wilde, Cambridge City Centre is also the first to unveil Oscar’s, the brand’s new all-day social hub. More than just a café bar, Oscar’s is a hybrid space that blends coworking lounge, artisan shop, and all-day dining destination. Each Oscar’s is uniquely designed to reflect its local context, with a focus on craftsmanship and seasonal, sustainable produce.

Breakfast features include Wilde’s House Granola with British honey and Toasted Banana Bread, while the all-day menu serves up thoughtful dishes like a Waste-Less Frittata, Lamb & Apricot Tagine, and a standout Oscar’s Sausage Roll. Guests can also enjoy fresh salads, cheese and charcuterie boards, and plant-based options.

A sustainable stay with a stylish twist

Wilde, Cambridge City Centre redefines eco-conscious travel without compromising on luxury. From a wildflower green roof and living walls that boost urban biodiversity, to solar panels and rainwater harvesting, sustainability is woven into the fabric of the building.

The hotel has also partnered with Water2, a filtered water initiative co-founded by adventurer Bear Grylls. Activated carbon filters in every room provide guests with fresh, purified water straight from the tap—minimising waste and single-use plastic.

Where heritage meets modern hospitality

“We’re thrilled to be opening Wilde in Cambridge, one of the UK’s most historic cities. Its literary heritage and creative spirit aligns with the ethos of Wilde and we are excited to write this new chapter in the brand’s story,” says Kelly Morgan, Managing Director at Wilde.

Opening rates at Wilde, Cambridge City Centre start from £194 per night for a studio and £225 for a one-bedroom apartment.
