A Gourmet Getaway in the Hills: Malvern’s Culinary Gem Unveils New Menus

Tucked high in the Malvern Hills and surrounded by eight acres of serene woodland, The Cottage in the Wood Malvern offers more than just breathtaking views—it’s home to a culinary destination that’s about to turn heads and tempt taste buds.

This spring, the hotel’s acclaimed 1919 Restaurant—Malvern’s only 3 AA Rosette restaurant—raises the bar once again. On May 1st, it will reveal a striking new look and a showstopping fine dining tasting menu curated by Head Chef Mark Potts. Served exclusively on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, the seven-course tasting experience (£95 per person) is a symphony of seasonal flavours: think Isle of Wight tomato salad, earthy wild mushrooms, delicately spiced monkfish, and salt-aged duck breast—all rounded off with a decadent salted caramel tart and handmade chocolates. For those seeking something extra, two additional courses from a rotating specials list—crafted with hyper-seasonal ingredients—can be added on.

But the culinary adventures don’t stop there.

For a more laid-back bite, the new Brasserie opens on April 16th, welcoming guests daily for dinner. With a menu that blends comfort and creativity, diners can build their own experience from small plates (from £13.50), larger mains (from £22.50), or indulge in a five-course tasting journey (£75 per person). Highlights include marinated burrata with ham hock, smoked haddock rarebit, honey-glazed duck, and the signature Cottage Pie. And on Sundays? Expect classic roasts elevated with flair, plus plenty of inspired alternatives.

The Brasserie tasting menu is also served at lunch and dinner Wednesday through Saturday, offering the perfect midday treat or relaxed evening meal.

Chef Mark Potts, who joined the team last year, brings a worldly flair to both kitchens. His dishes draw inspiration from Asia, South America, Europe, and Britain, all while keeping sustainability and seasonality at the heart of every plate.

Whether you’re in search of a fine dining revelation or a comforting countryside classic, The Cottage in the Wood offers it all—with sweeping views, stylish interiors, and that rare combination of elegance and ease.
