4 Stylish Staycation Ideas If You’re Craving a Much-Needed Holiday

We’re all probably craving a much-needed holiday, especially after the year we’ve all experienced! And with the uncertainty of travelling abroad and the hassle of pre-International travel checks, it makes sense to opt for a staycation this year.

But fret not, as there’s no need to feel like you’re missing out on anything (apart from the weather of course!).

The UK has some fantastic destinations on offer. From buzzing cities and stunning landmarks to beautiful long beaches – there’s something for everyone here, which certainly gives those exotic locations abroad a run for their money!

Here, experience specialists, Fizzbox.com provide their top recommendations for a stylish staycation.

Brighton

The ever-popular Brighton or ‘London by the Sea’ holds a prime position on our staycation hotlist.

Here, you can soak up the bohemian atmosphere in this vibrant seaside city as well as enjoy a wealth of things to do.

Firstly, sightseeing in Brighton is a must – we recommend doing this either by foot, on board a vintage Routemaster bus, or from a great height on board the British Airways I360 experience. Glide up to 450ft in a fully enclosed glass viewing pod and admire the views across Brighton and the south coast.

It’s essential to visit the beach and although it’s made up of pebbles, don’t be put off! There may be a lack of sand, but the lively, electric atmosphere more than makes up for it. The bustling promenade features live music, sports, boutiques, restaurants, and bars – where’s your first stop going to be?

Must do: Wander around the Lanes, grab a spot of brunch at The Ivy and catch a live band on the seafront.

Bath

The city of Bath in Somerset is rich in history and heritage, dating back to the Roman era and is a perfect destination for a stylish staycation. This special city is the only one in the UK to be designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site with outstanding universal value and cultural significance.

The beauty of Bath is that wherever you go in the city, you can enjoy the stunning backdrop of its impressive Georgian architecture – whether you’re sitting back and enjoying a drink with a view or walking around, taking in the iconic sights of the Roman settlements or Bath Abbey.

If relaxing is high on your agenda, we suggest visiting the state-of-the-art Thermae Bath Spa complex, where you can indulge yourself in the hot natural minerals of the spring baths.

Bath also offers fantastic shopping facilities, with plenty of independent boutiques set along the Georgian parades, in addition to picturesque streets.

Must do: Take a relaxing dip in Bath’s original natural thermal spa.

Dorset

The delightful south coast county of Dorset is another fantastic choice of destination for a British staycation. With its gorgeous scenery from rugged coastlines and long stretches of sandy beaches to glorious countryside, it ticks all the boxes for an enjoyable holiday experience.

What we love about Dorset is that each of its beaches has its very own personality and charm; Bournemouth is lively, Weymouth offers a vintage seaside feel, Sandbanks oozes glamour and The Jurassic Coastline which stretches from Exmouth to Studland Bay offers beautiful landscapes and scenery.

Dorset is ideal for lazy days on the beach and nature walks in the countryside – a perfect combination for an active, yet relaxing break.

Must do: Take a selfie with the famous Durdle Door backdrop.

Liverpool

The lively city of Liverpool has so much to offer for a staycation that’s full to the brim with culture and architecture, offering a huge choice of things to experience. Famous for its world-renowned football teams and rich history of music, it makes for a totally fun and laid-back break.

Look forward to taking in the many sights, especially the famous riverside Pier Head! Afterwards, head to Liverpool’s historic heart at the Royal Albert Docks, where you can enjoy year-round events and shopping, along with bustling bars and restaurants.

Liverpool also has the second-highest number of museums after London, so you’ll definitely be spoilt for choice for things to see here. Just make sure you check out the award-winning Beatles Story. This exhibit tells the band’s incredible journey to worldwide fame and is an absolute must for any visitor to the city.

Must Do: Visit the Royal Albert Docks.
