What Clothes Should You Pack For A Small Trip Away?
It might seem like travelling for a couple of days is the ultimate in convenience, and that can be true if you’re used to it. If you’re without a toothbrush, you can just buy one, and many little adjustments like that can be relied on. But if you’re used to packing for longer trips, it can be weirdly difficult to pack just for a couple of days.
You want to make sure you have everything you need without going overboard and hauling a massive suitcase, but you may also find yourself throwing in “just in case” outfits that somehow never get worn. So how do you pack smart without stressing over every possible scenario and carrying much more than you need?
The answer is you just keep it simple. It’s an art, but one you can learn. Let’s consider some tips:
Pack versatile items
You don’t have to pack an item for every eventuality, rather having a few items that can be used for many eventualities can be a nice way to balance it. So, bring clothes you know you’ll actually wear — and that can include the tried-and-true favourites you reach for all the time. A well-fitting pair of trousers, a comfortable t-shirt, and a jacket you love can go a long way. Make sure the style can be worn with many different items such as those with Rest Day Apparel.
Then you can add a few items on there in case you need to head out, like a jacket that works for a good walk or even a simple restaurant meal in the evening. Wearing more than one layer on your way can help you bring items to your accommodation without stuffing them in your suitcase. You can also match simple colours like black, grey, navy, or white.
Think in layers
Weather can be unpredictable, especially on short trips where the forecast might change. Layering as mentioned above, can help you with that and at least help you bring a few more clothes but without sacrificing suitcase space. Lighter pieces like t-shirts or tanks can be a decent place to begin.
Pack two pairs of footwear
Shoes can be the hardest thing to pack light, but they’re also the most important. Comfortable shoes you can wear without worrying about them being stained or beat-up can help you get from A to B more comfortably, especially if you’re going to be walking a lot. Pick one solid pair of walking shoes — sneakers are usually a good bet — and make sure they’re ones you’ve worn before to avoid blisters too.
We’d also recommend going for something a little dressier, but still practical. Maybe a pair of flats, loafers, or sandals, depending on where you’re going and what you’ll be doing, like heading to a nice restaurant. If you keep the two-shoe limit, even if one of them is hiking boots, you can make sure they don’t take up too much of your case. Just wrap them to keep them secure before you repack them after wearing them.
With this advice, you’ll be sure to pack clothes well, even for a small trip away.
