Things to Do When You Live in the Countryside

If you live in the country then you will know how it feels to be detached from the city life. The best thing about living in the countryside is that you have complete peace and quiet and you also have your own space as well. The problem is that sometimes you might get a little bored just sat around in your country cottage and you may also be constantly searching for things to do. For that reason, if you want something to do at the weekend or if you just want something a little different to do when you finish work then you can find out everything you need to know right here.

If you live near an orchard, or if you have an apple tree then why not do some baking? There are actually a lot of orchards that will let you pick their own apples for free and you can get a huge variety of different ones as well. This includes tart green apples, sweet red apples and more. Do a taste test when you go home and think to yourself, which one would be best in a pie? You could even make a caramel apple pie, cider or anything else that comes to mind. This is just one idea, but it could keep you entertained for hours so if you are looking for things to do in the country then this is a great choice. Nothing quite compares to the taste of fresh apple pie, right out of the oven!

Create a Bird Feeder

If you have a log outside or if you have a structure that could use a little DIY love then why not consider making your own bird feeder? All you have to do is hollow out the log and scoop out the dust. When you have done this, use some dowels to create a perch and even attach some wire hangers as well. All of this will make it very attractive to birds. When you have done this, you can then add some bird food. You can even add your own dried berries or some locally bought bird food. If you are really looking for something to do then you could paint the feeder, but do keep in mind that birds are more attracted to natural looking structures.

Go Camping

Nothing quite beats roasting marshmallows over an open fire, camping is a great way for you to get the family involved. If you live in the countryside then you will have a whole new world right on your doorstep, so why not take advantage of it? Pack a tent, get plenty of fresh water and venture out. You don’t even need to go far, but it is a great way for you to end a hike or even a long day fishing. You can even go on another hike after your first day because it doesn’t matter how far you walk, you always have your home with you when you have a tent on your back! Just make sure that you take a GPS or a compass so you can find your way back if you venture into unfamiliar territory.
