How To Get Naturally White Teeth
In Western culture, gleaming white teeth are considered something of an ideal to strive towards. Getting white teeth, without resorting to expensive treatments, can be difficult. In some cases, persistent dullness can knock our self-confidence – even if the teeth in question are otherwise perfectly healthy.
So, what’s the best natural way to get white teeth? In practice, it means using a combination of different methods, which we’ll take a look at below.
Brushing and flossing
Most dentists will recommend that you brush your teeth twice a day. This is the advice given by the NHS. Brushing should be done before you go to bed and at one other point in the day. For most people, this second point is the morning, usually both or after breakfast.
It’s best to floss just before you brush. You should also use a fluoride toothpaste or one that contains a mild abrasive substance, like sodium bicarbonate. Don’t rinse your mouth out immediately after brushing as this will remove the fluoride from your mouth, preventing it from doing its work.
An electric flosser might represent a simpler, easier solution than traditional flossing tape. The added convenience will make it easier to build and retain the habit, which will help protect your mouth in the long term.

Changes to your diet
Eating and drinking the right things will help your teeth and gums to more easily repair themselves. Eating and drinking the wrong things, by contrast, will accelerate any damage. Foods and drinks containing tannins, like tea, coffee and red wine, will stain your teeth. Crunchy raw fruits and vegetables can help to scrub your teeth clean, and promote saliva production – which will help to wash your mouth clean.
Increasing your calcium intake
Calcium is critical to the production of new bone and tooth tissue. It also helps to regulate blood flow and the nervous system. You can get it through dairy products like milk and cheese, as well as through tofu and nuts. If you don’t think that you’re getting enough of it, then you can use a supplement instead, but it’s best to speak with a healthcare professional first.
Swilling with coconut oil
Coconut oil is a natural alternative to mouthwash. Swill it for several minutes a day, ideally in the morning before brushing your teeth, and you might enjoy a number of benefits, including decreased plaque – or, so say the proponents. There is still some mixed evidence on this practice though.
