Conquering the Clutter Chaos of Your Home

If your home is full of stuff and a lot of that stuff is just clutter rather than things you really want to be there, then it can make you feel stressed out and even embarrassed about the state of your home, and the best thing you can do is to schedule in some time to really sort through the things in your home, get rid of what you don’t need or love anymore, and conquer the chaos once and for all because you deserve a peaceful home that relaxes you, not one that causes chaos and stress, right?

That being the case, let’s take a look at the simple steps you can take to conquer the clutter chaos of your home right now:

Choose a room

When you’re decluttering, it’s a really good idea to choose one room at a time instead of trying to get rid of everything all at once, because if you try to do that you could end up feeling overwhelmed. For example, you might want to start with the spare room, and get rid of all those exercise bikes and weights that you never use (check out Sell my gym equipment if you want a fuss-free way to get rid of old gym equipment snd make some money at the same time as they will collect it for you and even pay you for the privilege).

Alternatively, you might want to start with an easy room like the living room, which doesn’t have quite as much clutter as the spare room, so that you have an easy win on your hands – it really is up to you.

Implement the four-pile method

If you really don’t know where to start, the four-pile method can help. You have one pile for keeps, one pile for things you are going to throw away, one pile for donations and a not sure pile. You can then go through everything in your chosen room and add it to whichever pile you think it belongs to, Having a not sure pile is good because it helps you to stay in the flow instead of clamming up when you don’t know whether you can part with something or not, allowing you to keep the momentum up, and you can then go back to the not sure pile later to make a decisions.

Make sentimentality digital

Often, it is the case that you may find it hard to tame the clutter because you can’t bear to part with items that have sentimental value. One thing that may help you to overcome this is to simply take pictures of things like souvenirs and keepsakes, so that you still have a record of them while not having them actually cluttering up your space. Obviously, you don’t have to get rid of anything if you really don’t want to, but if you think you could manage with a digital record, it’s a great way to declutter.

Now, all that remains is to repeat this in each room of your home and before you know it, the chaos of clutter will have become calm!
