Spotlight on Athleisure Trends AW19

Athleisure is a trend that has taken the world by storm over the last few years. I mean, who doesn’t love wearing their comfies and calling it fashion!

Ok, so there’s a little more to this trend than sporting your joggers in your local supermarket. However, you also don’t have to fork out for Balenciaga’s to fit in with the sports luxe crowd.

The beauty of athleisure or sports luxe fashion is that we think anyone can pull it off both guys and gals, that’s why it makes the perfect addition to your autumn/winter collection.

So if you’re looking to update your wardrobe, check out some of the top looks to inspire your new season buys.

For fans of the 90s puffa jacket, you’re in for a treat this season. We saw a mix of long puffa outerwear and shorty jackets from Off-White and Cottweiler, which has inspired a host of affordable high street options. These 4bidden mens winter jackets from Urban Apparel are the perfect addition to your winter collection, plus we can’t forget the gals too, as designers such as Chanel and Marni gave us duvet day vibes with their huge puffa outerwear options. But for something a little more practical for everyday wear, check out options such as GANT and Uniqlo to endure those cold snaps.

The Dad shoe

If you’ve been gushing over the Insta-perfect pictures of the Balenciaga Triple S trainer for the past few years, then it could be time to invest in some of one of the biggest trends of the season. Ok, so you might not be able to stretch to the hefty price tag, but there is plenty of affordable trainers just waiting to be snapped up.

To some, it may resemble footwear your dad used to wear back in the day. However, this versatile athleisure look has been seen on everyone from celebrities to influencers in both casual looks and tailored attire. Big sportswear names are also serving up stylish chunky sneakers too including Puma, New Balance and Fila, to name a few.

The 90s is back in fashion

AW19 is the perfect time to recreate those favourite athleisure looks from the 90s. One such trend is the bucket hat. Designers gave this iconic hat a bit of a reboot with luxe vibes on the catwalks of Tom Ford and Dior. Pair this with a crossbody bag and your dad shoes, and you’re well on your way evoking that 90s nostalgia.
