4 Shoes Every Woman’s Capsule Wardrobe Needs

Despite the fact the UK has been struck with sub-zero temperatures on a daily basis for the past two weeks, there is an ever-so-slight hint of sunshine starting to appear.

Amongst a host of other things, the glimpse of blue skies means that it’s time to roll out the spring-summer capsule wardrobe. With this in mind, we thought it was high time to give you the low down on the essential shoes and footwear choices that you can incorporate into your capsule wardrobe.

We’re talking about four styles of shoes for women that can be paired with any outfit – keeping things stylish and fresh without breaking the bank.

So then, without further ado, let’s take a look at the four must-have silhouettes for that perfect transitional season capsule wardrobe.

The retro trainer full of colour

Okay, so the black kicks have had their wear in the winter, but now it’s time for a spring upgrade. Incredibly hot at the minute are the New Balance 327s and 574s, available in a range of cool colourways, including mint green, dark green, lilac, and yellow, they are a sure thing to fire a little sunshine into any dismal British day.

The retro profile will score you serious style points, and the bright colourway will give you that stand-out flair. Perfect with jeans and pretty floral dresses alike for that off-duty finish, this trainer is likely to stay in your wardrobe for the foreseeable future.

Heeled boots? Yes please!

Heeled boots with a high shine finish or print are the perfect transition shoe, not only from spring to summer but also from day to night, making them an iconic choice, whatever the occasion.

Rock them out on a shopping trip or for evening cocktails, and you’ll never look out of place. Of course, black is the obvious choice, but if you’re looking to bring some energy to your fit, why not opt for a striking colourway and make the heeled boots the real star of the show?

Loose fit or slim leg jeans? Midi or pencil skirt? Whatever you choose, be confident that your heeled boots will complement your outfit.

A cool mule

The mule arrived back on the scene as the hottest trend a few years ago and hasn’t really looked back since. It’s a profile that’s both sleek and fashion-forward, pairable with pretty much anything.

The mule is the perfect compromise between the full shoe and sandal for our unpredictable British seasons. They will also take you from the office straight to the bar thanks to the glitzy mirror effect heel, practical, eh?

So, if you’re not ready to get those bare pins out just yet, show a bit of ankle instead with a classic mule.

The flat loafer

No capsule wardrobe for the spring-summer season is complete without a pair of flat loafers.

Everyone needs a staple summer flat to get them through the season.

With just enough coverage to still be classed as a shoe, this can be slipped on no matter what the weather and in a pale pastel colourway, you’ll get that spring feeling every day. A little bird told us that pastel’s back in…

Dressed casual or smart, this slick shoe will keep up with your adapting wardrobe and keep outfits looking fresh right through till September.

So, there you have it, a fool-proof footwear plan for the next 6 months. Whatever the weather, wherever you’re going, we’ve got you covered!
